The Ultimate High School Music Talent Contest
Dream It - Live It - Share It
| |
The Brown Bags To Stardom (BBTS) competition was started over 25 years
ago back in 1981 as a live talent show, and it has launched the careers
of great performers, such as Tia Carerre, Kapena and Glenn Medeiros.
It has helped to build the self-esteem and confidence of students,
rallied schools and increased school spirit, inspired thousands of
television viewers, and is expected to become a national and global
phenomenon through the Internet as the premier talent showcase for
teenagers. The contest ended in 2000, but Johnny Kai and the Music
Foundation of Hawaii (MFH), "took over the reigns" in 2006 and
re-launched the talent contest with a slightly different format using
2-minute music videos submitted by contestants and aired on TV and on
the Internet.
